All About The In And Above Ground Pool Pump

Pools are much more than holes in or above the yard that provide us with hours of swimming pleasure. They are systems of complex machinery that enable us to have all that fun. The in or above ground pool pump is usually hidden away in a separate area far from the swimming hole. It contains an electric motor that spins an impeller which drives water from the drains through a filter and then sends it back out to the inlets.

Before the water reaches the in or above ground pool pump, it passes through a basket containing a strainer. This strainer catches debris that could potentially clog the pump. The water then flows on to reach a filter that removes tiny particles of debris and dirt from it. This clean water travels through an outlet pipe and back into the swimming area. The filter is cleaned by hosing it off and it will eventually need to be replaced.

To eliminate the amount of debris that must be removed by the in or above ground pool pump, covers can be purchased for pools. These are made from materials such as plastic or mesh and can be found for sale in retail stores, swimming product supply centers, and online. Whether the pool is round, oval, a rectangular lap, or a custom shape, a cover can be found or special ordered. This product provides protection during winter months and can even be rolled over the surface at night to prevent leaves, insects, and debris from falling in.

Above ground swimming areas not only have an above ground pool pump, they have liners that surround the side walls. Some in ground pools, such as the polynesian brand, also contain these but most are lined with fiberglass or gunite. The liner needs to be cleaned on a regular basis because it has a tendency to accumulate algae and water residue.

Vacuums and robotic devices can be purchased to accomplish the cleaning tasks and some of those for sale are automatically operated. That means the device will do the cleaning on its own without any human effort required, similar to how an in or above ground pool pump operates. Eventually, liners will need to be replaced and replacements can be found online or in stores.

The in or above ground pool pump is the device that filters the water supplied for swimming. It works together with covers to keep the water much cleaner, making it swimmable at any time. The backyard literally becomes an oasis of relaxation and fun for the entire family.
